Blanc de Blanc “Méthode Traditionnelle”

Nicolas Idiart

The Vines

90% Chardonnay + 10% Ugni Blanc

Terroir

This vineyard is planted on the chalky, flint soils of Marigny-Brizay, located 30 miles from Chinon in the most southern part of the Loire Valley. Here the chardonnay is rich and less acidic than in the Champagne region. Blending with Uni Blanc grape variety increases freshness which is essential in sparkling wines.

Vinification

Nicolas Idiart uses the traditional winemaking method used in Champagne for his Blanc de Blanc. We begin with a base wine with low alcohol levels for a second fermentation. Carefully maintaining low sugar levels in order to keep the rich and full flavors of the Chardonnay fresh. It is then aged on lees in the second fermentation for 18 months.

Tasting Notes

A bouquet of freshly made bread with hints of dried herbs and honey. This Blanc de Blanc is always delicate, fresh, and vibrant. For any celebration or just a good day!

Food Pairings

Serve with salads, oysters or desserts.
